
Albrecht Dürer: Life, facts, curiosities and art!
Albrecht Dürer was born in 1471 in Nurnberg. After his apprenticeship as goldsmith, he began studying the art of painting and became famous for his works from 1495 onwards. His art works mark the climax of the late Gothic and transition to the Renaissance. His self portraits express the consciousness of the Renaissance. He was the first German artist who made his own portraits. Albrecht Dürer also dealt with the theoretical principles of art in his three published books on geometry, art of fortification and human proportions. Dürer pushed the limits of contemporary mathematics and inspired the works of Galileo and Kepler in the field of Descriptive geometry. He spent a major part of his life In Nurnberg where he died in 1528.
