August Macke: Life, facts, curiosities and art!The German painter August Macke was born on 3. 1. 1887 in Meschede, Westfalen. He died as a soldier on 26. 9. 1914 in Champagne during the war. As a student of L. Corinth, Macke was strongly influenced by the style of the artists of Blue Rider. Later he was influenced by the works of R. Delaunay and of the Futurism. Macke went on a Tunis travel together with Paul Klee and L. Moillet. Macke depicted a sensitive and cheerful world in bright and colourful pictures and then moved to the abstract style of painting in the last years of his life.
