Otto Müller: Life, facts, curiosities and art!

In 1904 Otto Müller moved to Rockau in Dresden where he got acquainted with Paula Modersohn-Becker and turned to Expressionism. He joined the artists' group "Die Brücke" after rejection by the jury of the “Berlin Secession”. The artists group formed by the initiative of Heckel, Käthe Kollwitz, Bruno Taut und Karl Schmidt-Rottluff detached itself from the historical paintings of the empire. Otto Müller lived with gypsies during his various travels. Their life represented freedom from social conventions to him and the same was also the topic of many of his paintings. In 1937 the national socialists seized 357 of his paintings from the German museums and declared his work as “Degenerated art”. All artworks by Otto Müller can be ordered in our online-shop in any form you desire e.g. as a poster, art print on canvas, hand-painted oil painting, acrylic art print or metal print.
