Life and work of the famous painter Piet Mondrian

Piet Mondrian was a Dutch abstract painter who is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of abstract art and a key figure in the development of the De Stijl movement. He was born on March 7, 1872, in Amersfoort, Netherlands, and died on February 1, 1944, in New York City, United States. Piet Mondrian is known for his distinctive style of abstract art characterized by the use of simple geometric forms, such as rectangles and squares, and a limited palette of primary colors (red, blue, and yellow) along with black, white, and gray. He believed that these pure colors and simple forms could create a sense of harmony and balance in his paintings, and he sought to express the spiritual and universal through his art. Piet Mondrian's mature style, often referred to as "neoplasticism," was characterized by a grid-like structure of intersecting horizontal and vertical lines, with blocks of color carefully arranged within the grid. He believed that this balanced and ordered composition could evoke a sense of universal harmony and reflect the underlying structure of reality. In addition to his involvement with the De Stijl movement, Mondrian also participated in exhibitions in other countries, including Germany, France, and the United States, and his works gained recognition among art collectors and critics. However, his abstract style was not always well-received during his lifetime, and he faced challenges in gaining acceptance and financial success as an artist. In 1917, Mondrian moved to Paris, where he continued to develop his abstract style and became part of the international avant-garde art scene. However, due to the outbreak of World War II, he relocated to London and then to New York City in 1940, where he spent the last years of his life.
