Wassily Kandinsky was a Russian painter and art theorist who is credited with being one of the pioneers of abstract art. He was born on December 4, 1866, in Moscow, Russia, and died on December 13, 1944, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. Wassily Kandinsky's early artistic training was conservative, and he initially painted in a traditional style. He moved to Munich, Germany in 1896 to further his artistic education, where he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts. In 1911, Kandinsky co-founded the Blue Rider movement, along with Franz Marc and other artists, which aimed to promote abstract art and spiritual expression in painting. Kandinsky believed that art should evoke emotions and spiritual experiences, and he sought to free painting from the constraints of representing the physical world. Wassily Kandinsky's style evolved towards abstraction, and he began to experiment with non-representational forms, vibrant colors, and dynamic compositions. His works from this period are characterized by their bold use of color, geometric shapes, and rhythmic patterns. Kandinsky's breakthrough into abstraction is often credited as one of the first instances of completely non-representational art.
